Today for a change, let’s hear a story. A story about girls who were helped by a female super-hero, that too Indian. Don’t think it is childish, because the message behind this story is very valuable.
A group of girls who were friends consisted of Tara, Anjali, and Naina. They were best of friends. They used to go to school together and also play with each other. This was a strong girl group. One night, they were all in their homes watching television with their family. They were watching the local news. In the news, there was an inauguration of a new and first trampoline and outdoor activities park in their locality. The owner was Gogo, a local goon. The girls had an interest in sports so they were all excited to try that.
They called each other and expressed their interest to go there. They decided that after school the other day, they will go to that park and will have fun. Tara was a little reluctant to go as she told her she has to study, but Anjali pleaded her to go just that day, and she agreed.
The next day after school, they all ran to their home to have lunch and change into regular clothes. They told their parents about their plan and took permission and some money for the entrance fee and headed towards the park. They were all very excited and happy.
When they reached the park, they were amused to see the size and look of the park. They took their tickets and entered the park. They went to the trampoline and started jumping. They were having fun and enjoyed it. One group full of boys, little older than the girls came there and asked them to leave the trampoline as they wanted to use it. Anjali got offended and was about to fight with them, But Tara and Naina stopped her. They left the trampoline for the boys and went to the other activity. They went to the swimming pool. They changed into their swimwear and started to swim. Naina didn’t know swimming, so Tara and Anjali were teaching her. Suddenly, they heard some noises of laughing. They turned and saw the same group of boys. They were saying girls can’t do physical or sports activities. They should just play with dolls at their home and rather than coming to this kind of park. This is not for boys. They started bullying them. They even drank some juices out of single-use plastic bottles and threw it anywhere. Girls told them to stop that but they didn’t care.
Chintu and Bunty, two of their classmates were also having fun at some distance. They saw the whole incident but didn’t say anything. Girls looked towards them for help but they said they should not fight with big boys, they should go home. Big boys told the girls to leave the pool. Girls got out of the pool and started to go to the basketball court, but the boys told them to leave the park. Anjali got angry and thought of teaching them a lesson.
They went to the owner of the park to complain against it. Gogo listened to the girls and went with them to face the boys. When they reached, The boys started laughing and so did Mr. Gogo. They were friends and relatives of Gogo. He took the boys’ side and told the girls to come when the park will be empty. Girls said they should have equal access to the park as they have paid for the entrance, but Gogo ignored them. Girls got upset and they had to leave the park.
The girls went to Tara’s home and they were discussing what happened that day. Anjali was angry, but Tara said they shouldn’t have gone to the park. They should play at home rather than going to these places. Then suddenly, a girl superhero appeared – Dabung Girl. The girls were shocked. But she introduced herself and told them she has been seeing all this incident and has come to help them. They were happy that Dabung Girl is going to teach boys and Gogo a lesson. But Dabung girl told she won’t do anything herself, but its Girls who will do that. Girls are capable of doing anything.
Dabung girl advised girls to go to the police station to complain. They went. But Firari Lal, a police officer was preoccupied with other things and told them to not get under this mess being girls. He didn’t have time to tackle this situation. He told the issue isn’t that big. Girls came from the police station and were upset. Dabung Girl came again and asked them to cheer up.
She advised girls to go back to the park and challenge boys for a sports relay and win against them and show they are strong. Girls said they can’t compete with them as they are big boys and are more fit but Dabung girl told her she’ll help them to get fit. So the girls went and challenged the boys. They laughed and accepted the challenge. The challenge was to happen next week.
Boys didn’t do anything for the challenge as they thought it is a piece of cake to win from girls. Dabung girl used to wake girls early in the morning to exercise. She helped them to get fit.
The day came of the challenge. The girls went with a positive mind. Boys came there eating chips from plastic packets and soft drinks from plastic bottles. They threw the plastic there itself. The challenge began. The sports relay consisted of 3 activities – Cycling, swimming, and athletics. The race began. One boy and Naina started to cycle. Naina was going good, so was the boy but the boy’s cycle crossed over a plastic bottle thrown by them and he fell, and Naina reached first. Then one boy and Tara began swimming. Tara was swimming fast and was the boy. They completed it at the same time. Boys had a fear that they would lose so they decided to cheat. In the athletic ground, they placed rocks in between for Anjali to make her fall. The race began. Anjali was ahead of the boy but her legs came across rocks and she slipped. She shouted. Dabung girl came to her rescue. With the help of her elastic body, She held Anjali and with the other hand, she threw the rocks away. Anjali didn’t fall. She continued and the girls won the relay.
Boys were shocked and ashamed. They said they will allow the girls to be free in the park. Girls took their promise that boys will no longer litter the place with single-use plastics too. Girls thanked Dabung Girl. They were happy and stronger after that day. They realized their potential that they are capable of doing everything being girls.
